Our Vision

Archild believes in celebrating the individuality of every child and family we serve. We are committed to improving each child’s life at school, at home and in the community, and we welcome the privilege of collaborating with families to achieve this goal.

Humble Beginnings

Archild is a nonprofit organization that was established by Dr. Dolly Mosley in 1971. As a pioneer and leader in the delivery of special education services, Dr. Mosley’s dream was to provide innovative, quality educational programming to central Arkansas children with developmental delays by supporting families and maximizing each child’s individual abilities.

Dr. Mosley recognized this need after encountering parents who were faced with the difficult decision of keeping their special needs children at home or placing them in the state’s Human Development Centers. In an effort to provide a third alternative, she opened Archild at the original location of 5312 W. 10th St. and welcomed children with a variety of developmental disabilities. Children were able to remain with their families and recieve the special education and therapy servcies they needed while their parents continued with their jobs and daily routines.
